Vivian’s fondest childhood memories took place in a vibrantly lit courtyard greenhouse in a Californian mid-century modern home. The tropical plants reminded her of her parents’ heritage and fostered a unique relationship to the natural environment. Her love of nature and the intimacy of family-centered spaces has been a throughline in her career. One of her favorite places to visit is farther afield, but no less special: The Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice is a “family home turned into an arts and cultural center that has intriguing architectural details and a unique relationship to Venice and its urban fabric.”

Before joining TenBerke in 2019, Vivian spent five years in design build and gained a deep appreciation for the process of collaborating with contractors. Her work at TenBerke spans a range of projects, including the University of Pennsylvania Meeting & Guesthouse, the University of Virginia Hotel and Conference Center, and several residential homes. When designing homes, Vivian’s goal is to create unique residential spaces that interact with civic architecture and culture, and she’s especially inspired when she visits a construction site and can see these designs come to life. Vivian received her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, and her Master of Architecture from Yale.
