Planned Parenthood — light-filled offices for a mission-driven organization

New York, NY
19,000 square feet
2011
Type: Civic / Offices
Theme: Opening to Light

The International Planned Parenthood Federation’s Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR) retained our office to design their new headquarters in New York City. We created an “inside out” layout for the 19,000 square foot office to foster collaboration. Each department has an open workspace with ample windows; inboard of these light-filled plazas we placed glass-enclosed meeting rooms and private offices.

Our neutral color palette accented with bold details highlights the organization’s signature colorful infographic posters and books that are on display.

In keeping with IPPF/WHR’s sustainable agenda, our design is LEED Silver Certified for Commercial Interiors.

TenBerke designed a workplace that respects our staff and what they do. At the beginning of the project, Deborah remarked that architecture should not get in the way of the function, but rather enhance it. Our new space is simple, clear, and sustainable—everything we aspire our mission to be.
