NXTHVN receives AIA New York 2024 Design Award

April 12, 2024

AIA New York has awarded NXTHVN a 2024 Design Award for Architecture.

Occupying two former factory buildings and a luminous new addition, NXTHVN is a not-for-profit arts and community incubator founded by artist Titus Kaphar in New Haven, CT. NXTHVN is dedicated to providing affordable workspaces for artists, mentoring local youth, and contributing to the revitalization of the Dixwell neighborhood and New Haven. NXTHVN’s spaces include a public café and galleries, a great hall, makerspace, artist studios, and residences.

“Not only does it successfully reimagine the existing building, it has added a beautiful structure with a unique brick façade that is very expressionistic.”
Brian Johnsen, AIA, Juror
