Six Walks (published 2022) follows author Ben Shattuck as he retraces journeys throughout New England taken over a century earlier by writer, philosopher, and naturalist Henry David Thoreau. “Drawings from the book Six Walks: In the Footsteps of Henry David Thoreau” exhibits the original pencil drawings made along and after those journeys, depicting summits in northern Maine, beaches of Cape Cod, Thoreau’s Walden cabin, and sunlit fields. The six paintings also included in the show are in conversation with Thoreau’s writing, drawing on moments and descriptions in his journals.
