Joray Road — a modern house inspired by vernacular tradition

The main floor of the house is an open plan punctuated with a series of walls that delineate the public rooms of the house. A glass and steel frame wall further define the kitchen and dining room while still allowing light in to the gallery. The second floor is a divided into two distinct zones to allow their grown son and his family to have a private area unto themselves. A two-story screen porch ties the two floors together, letting in abundant natural light and providing refuge from the insects.
