Upper East Side Apartment — art and objects offset by clean-lined, modern furniture

In the entry hall, custom abstract mural wallcoverings give the space character. A large sculpture fragment is visible at the end of the corridor, drawing the eye into the living room. Cleanlined, modern upholstered furniture in pale neutral hues calmly offset the colorful art and objects. Custom black lacquer floating bookshelves flank the fireplace and highlight the smaller pieces of sculpture and artefacts. Paintings by contemporary Asian artists enliven the walls.

In the dining room a large round dining table with an antique base is surrounded by eight dining chairs. Throughout the apartment, every surface was carefully considered: Grass-cloth wallcoverings have a subtle shimmer; the silk and wool rug is edged with leather trim. In the master bedroom, capiz shell wall panels were hung behind the bed. In the study, wood veneer wall coverings add textural backdrop for paintings and richly carved sculpture.
