Brown University has named TenBerke to lead the design for their new Integrated Life Sciences Building. Set in Providence’s Jewelry District, the new building will bring state-of-the-art laboratory space for researchers in biology, medicine, brain science, bioengineering, public health, and other disciplines to work together on pressing health-related issues. TenBerke has teamed with Ballinger on the project, and TenBerke Principal Noah Biklen will lead the project team.
“Not only does TenBerke bring great skills as designers of urban projects, but they also have a nuanced understanding of how to work with an academic institution in which there are multiple internal and external stakeholders whose perspectives are essential in the effort to develop a complex building project,” University Architect Craig Barton said.
TenBerke and Ballinger are currently working together on a Physical Science and Engineering building for Yale University and have also partnered individually with Brown. Ballinger designed Brown’s Sidney E. Frank Hall for the Life Sciences, which opened in 2006, and TenBerke is leading the design of Brown’s under-construction Brook Street Residence Hall project, expected to open in 2023.
